I was quite sure that I could make it on time since both locations are only in Puchong. So I steadily took my car into the traffic and I was quickly greeted with a massive crawl leading towards the church (residents of Puchong will know what I mean, especially on a Saturday afternoon). By the way, have I mentioned I have never been to this church so I was relying on my GPS unit that comes with phone. It took me 15 minutes finally just to squeeze through the congested traffice lights and I thought I could still make it on time. But as I was making my last few turnings before arriving, tragedy struck again! This time, my phone restarted due to the heavy draw of power from the GPS and the battery was low. If anyone had use one of this GPS with phones (don’t trust em) you’ll know it takes quite a bit of time to reconnect the GPS. So it took me another 10, yes ten full minutes just to wait for it to reconnect. By then I’m really starting to sweat profusely! So I tried hard to gather myself and think. Luckilly Kevin gave me an invitation card that has a ‘map’ behind it! Yea… that’s what saved me.

S0 I finally reached the church, Church of OUR LADY OF GUADALUPE(beautiful church). Got down my car and gathered my gear in a whizz.. as I’m walking towards the entrance I heard a song. I believe its called ‘Here comes the bride’. I got shocked for a moment but thought to myself again, nah, its probably just last minute rehearsal. But as I took a few more steps and took a closer look, I saw everyone standing, then I saw the bridal entourage walking down the aisle. OMG! Ladies & gentlemen, please make it a habit to be punctual ok? (For you guys who adhere strictly to malaysian time anyways!)

Anyway, I gathered all my strength & called upon the last drop of my adrenaline and took a dash towards the church altar and thank god, I was just half a second quicker to catch the first line of the bridal entourage and snapped away hastily with my other camera still hanging loose somewhere in my arms!

I personally like fish, although my favorite is the Red Arowana but it is still quite far-fetch now due to space, time and money constraint. But it will be one of my goal. Nonetheless, many other types of fishes also fascinates me especially the ones with nice shapes and colors. I like colors, strong contrasty colors fuels my excitement and desire to look for more.

These are called ‘African Prince’, a species of African Chillids.

They come in mainly white and yellow. Very cranky, aggressive and high-appetite fish. Feeds on simple fish food but a lot. They maneuver skillfully and quickly through the aquarium at high burst speed. This post quite a challenging situation if your camera cannot handle high ISO.

With the aquarium lights, I have to set ISO1000 to get a constant shutter of around 1/125 to 1/250 at F/2.8 – F/3.2. Of course my trusty Canon 30D makes this process quite effortless.

I noticed that these fishes are quite camera friendly and sometimes aggressive too as they try to peck at my lens. Unlike the guppies and neon-tetra which are quite camera-shy in this sense.

A tripod helps in this situation but make sure your ball-head is set moderately loose cause you might be constantly chasing these African Prince can you may strain your ankle.

Well, it is pretty simple process and the most important ingredient is of course to have a lots of FUN. With practice, you will be rewarded with beautiful unforgettable images of your pet fish.

Well, coming back to real life where most if not all these works and coordination works are carried out by none other than your faithful photographer. In malaysia sometimes, its called ‘Hey Cameraman’. gosh…

The most we have is a make-up artist that carries a whole set of portable make-up kit plus lots and lots of tissues (2 ply) and if budget allows 1 more additional photographer’s assistant aka ‘Ah Chong’. So the pressure is really HIGH to produce a master piece to say the least. Lets face it, the shoot is normally scheduled for 3 days and most maybe 5 days, also with the ever changing climate system it is really not easy to predict it. If Apollo (God of the Sun) is shining upon you, blue skies, white clouds, colorful sunsets are almost guaranteed but otherwise grey all the way.

So as a photographer or Photo Artist, we have to determine the right time, right place, and the right everything to make the shot. We are the sole whole crew which has to plan and do everything from A to Z and hopefully our faithful star-actor and actress aka the couple can play their role with minimal NG.

The result – A scene to remember. Years later, you can still take out your album from the closet or underneath the bed, brush off the dust, browse through the photos, taking yourself down memory lane, remembering the shoot, feeling the atmosphere, the laughs, the sweats, the breeze, the smell, the shouting blah blah blah…

For both of us, hotels and chinese restaurants are out of the question. All things being considered, the below ‘undisclosed hideout’ has been on our high list.
